Social inclusion is a challenge facing most economies across the planet. Emerging countries in places such as sub-Saharan Africa struggle to end extreme poverty, malnourishment, and the lack of access to clean water and sanitation.
The Middle East, Africa, and Southern Asia (MEASA) region is a relatively newly defined region but with long-standing significance. MEASA covers a large and diverse geography, spanning the historical Silk Road outside China and includes 88 countries, from Indonesia in the East, to Senegal in the West, from Turkey in the North, and to South Africa in the South.
Call it the SWF paradox. Given the sheer size of their assets, sovereign wealth funds (SWFs) can move the needle in achieving SDGs and bridge the huge financing gap developing countries face.
